Job Description

Job Title: Supplier Management Engineer

Location:

This role will report into the Pharma Services Group and can based near any one of our PSG sites in eastern part of North America.

How will you make an impact?

As a member of the Global Supplier Quality organization, the Supplier Management Engineer will be a key contributor into the global performance management program at Thermo Fisher. You will implement procedures and standard processes that focus on mitigating risk in the supply base, improving Supplier performance, and driving resolution to high impacting Supplier deviations. Specifically, the responsibilities include supplier deviation management, risk identification and reduction, quality and supply chain improvements, and relationship management with internal and external partners. The successful candidate will have experience in Pharmaceutical / Medical Device manufacturing or similar field and will possess technical capabilities, problem solving knowledge, project management skills and procurement competence.

What will we do:

  • We travel (up to 50%) to and from supplier locations to resolve Manufacturing, Quality, Technical and supply issues and investigations, as well as facilitate overall improvements to proactively prevent supplier issues.

  • We provide supplier investigation ownership and applies enhanced problem-solving skills (six sigma) to identify true root cause, develop, and implement irreversible corrective actions. Provides efficient and effective solutions and CAPA management for supplier issues.

  • Coordinates, communicates and leads all aspects of general technical matters pertaining to suppliers, including understanding and optimizing component / material usage and upskilling suppliers to provide improved materials and services.

  • Responsible for communicating supplier issues to Leadership Team

  • We participate in periodic business and relationship review meetings with problematic suppliers.

  • We serve as a primary point of contact to Thermo Fisher manufacturing sites and suppliers in the region. Influences internal partners and works across functional boundaries to identify business needs, establish standard processes, ensure alignment, and mitigate risk.

  • We are responsible for ensuring data driven Global Supplier Management program that focuses on identifying and mitigating risk across the direct material supply chain.

  • Must understand worldwide regulatory requirements and ensures policies are in place to meet compliance requirements of relevant standard including (ISO 9002, ISO13485, cGMP).

Education:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required in Engineering, Science, or Business

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of meaningful experience in a regulated environment (GMP a plus), in any of the following industries: Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, OTC Drug, Cosmetic and/or Food and Dietary Supplements, Automotive or Aerospace is required.

  • Validated experience in Procurement, Quality, and/or Supply Chain Management.

  • Experience in data management, collection, analysis, technical writing, and driving continuous improvement with a track record of achieving results..

  • Experience in business and quality management systems (i.e. SAP, TrackWise, etc.).

  • Experience in a matrix organization and influencing internal and external team members at multiple levels of the organization.

  • Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt or Yellow Belt certification is a plus.

Equivalency :

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and meaningful work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to develop and / or improve supplier relationships.

  • Confirmed problem-solving skills.

  • Six Sigma certification (black, green belt) is preferred.

  • Ability to develop and / or improve commercial relationships.

  • Validated self-starter that works well independently and within team settings.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Appreciates and respects diversity, values, and norms.

  • Facilitates business negotiations in a professional manner.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PPT).

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work within a team as well as independently.
