Position Summary:

Thermo Fisher Scientific ANZ is a distribution, sales, and service organisation operating out of offices in Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland, supporting customers throughout Australia and New Zealand. The Quality Assurance Manager role provides quality system leadership to support business objectives, providing a high level of compliance with quality standards and customer satisfaction through continuous process improvements!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a comprehensive QMS to ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations and corporate policies.

  • Plan and implement quality improvement strategies to meet all quality and business objectives.

  • Establish and maintain processes to continuously evaluate products and services quality throughout their lifecycle.

  • Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance to quality standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and action corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.

  • Analyse quality data and metrics to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Mentor and support employees at all levels to promote a quality culture.

  • Proactively partner with key internal customers to understand and aid them in the improvement of their business processes.

  • Identify and deliver training programs to educate employees on quality management principles and practices.

  • Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the quality of incoming products.

  • Prepare and present reports to senior management on quality performance and improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, science, quality management, or a related field.

  • Validated experience in a quality management role, preferably in a sales, distribution and service industry. Verified ability (10+ years) in Quality Assurance, 5+ yrs’ experience as a quality manager.

  • Excellent understanding of quality principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, ISO 9001 standard).

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards relevant to the science and medical industry, including but not limited to medical device regulations, IVD regulations, hazardous material regulations, Controlled substances regulations and NATA calibration requirements.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and plan and implement effective solutions.

  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills, able to positively influence and collaborate with other teams.

  • Ability to prioritise and handle time efficiently to meet agreed commitments.

  • Strong attention to detail and dedication to delivering high-quality products or services.

  • Self-motivated with a drive and passion to succeed.

  • Proficiency in routine IT software packages (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power Bi)

Other Job Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 10-15%

  • Follow OHS policies and procedures and ensure a safe workplace environment and enforce to the Chain of Responsibility obligations under the Australian Heavy Vehicle National Law

  • Participate in injury management and return to work following a workplace injury/illness.

  • Promoting and encouraging Quality commitment and consultation in the workforce.

  • Maintaining the Quality Management System under the direction of the Senior Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance manager
