Thermo Fisher Scientific Business Development Specialist-Clinical Research IVD Toxicology in Orlando, Florida
The scope of this position is to develop and execute LSMS (triple quadrupole MS and HRAM MS), CHROM(IC, LC, GC, GC/MS) and TEA (AA and ICPMS) instrument sales across the Division in the Clinical Research / IVD /Toxicology markets. This includes responsibility for driving growth and brand awareness as well as resolving problem account issues to achieve growth and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Identifies and interprets customers’ requirements, shaping a solution to fit their needs.
Provides technical expertise, consultations and problem solving techniques to customers as necessary and expedites orders.
Work cross-functionally with direct Sales Reps, CoE Field Personnel, Marketing and R&D. Providing knowledge and expertise to help close sales and facilitate logistics.
Serves as the focal point for customers, a responsibility requiring a broad knowledge of the division and an attitude that is in tune with its goals.
Functions as a business person, aware of and responsible to the conditions that affect the business. These conditions include knowledge of competition – their products, pricing, procedures and personnel; of customers – their organizations and procedures; of the Clinical and Toxicology industries represented by customers.
Is responsive to customers’ needs, as well as to conditions and trends that affect them. Serves as a channel of information to the division about customers, markets and competition. Receives guidance concerning markets, prices, products, deliveries and competition from the division.
Tradeshow representation at regional and national meetings.
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Decision Making Authority
Responsible for discount administration in assigned territory.
Arranges presentation schedule with customer base.
Manages controllable expense budget within assigned territory.
Has ultimate responsibility for account management in assigned territory.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum of a BS Degree in Chemistry/Physical Sciences, or equivalent experience required. PhD or MBA a plus.
7+ years sales experience selling capital equipment, preferably in the analytical instrument market.
Solid understanding of the Clinical Research/Toxicology/IVD market is desired.
Willingness to travel 50-75 % throughout the Southeast U.S.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions
General Analytical Instrument product knowledge.
Working knowledge of LC/MS-MS, GC/MS, ICP-MS and AA instrument business.
Successfully manages subjective decision-making.
In-depth understanding of the professional selling process.
Strong Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry background desired.
Clear, concise verbal and written communication.
Effective time utilization.
Accurate sales forecasting abilities.
High level of integrity/credibility.
Handles pressure/disappointment professionally. Professional demeanor is a must.
