What will you do?

  • Perform laboratory analysis on products and raw materials following established QC laboratory procedures.

  • He or she will assist in troubleshooting and problem solving as directed.

  • He or she will be the task-master in regard to preparing schedules, provides manager with daily schedule of activities, assigns day-to-day testing responsibilities, and follows up with the technicians.

  • He or she must engage and encourage working relationships with peers in all other departments.

  • Responsibilities of the position will include, but not limited to, product release, assessing stability, facilitating complaint investigations, effecting raw material release, facilitating value assignments, supporting advance manufacturing other technical service groups, and working with the planners to effectively schedule daily work scope.

  • Prepares, tests, and release samples in accordance with written procedures.

  • Facilitate workflow in laboratory. Provide tools for improvement when necessary.

  • Troubleshoots test procedures and/or instrumental when problems arise, determines appropriate course of action.

  • Aid in investigations and/or experiments to assess product problems, under the direction of the manager and/or scientists.

  • Evaluates analytical results and determines conformance to specification: identifies deviations and trends, and out of specification events.

  • Maintains instrumentation and equipment in accordance with manufacturers labeling and in-hours audit and calibrations procedures.

  • Prepares data summaries and/or reports for technical input: writes and reviews departmental procedures.

  • Maintains all required records/logs in accordance with procedures and GMP.

  • Perform required maintenance and operations of laboratory equipment and instrumentation according to quality audits and maintenance procedures to assure accuracy and confidence in performance.

  • Monitor the SPC program and Calibration Maintenance Program.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a leader in the team, both in terms of laboratory processes and team leadership.

  • The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring new hires receive proper orientation and training.

  • Trains laboratory personnel on Lab procedures and operations of instrumentation and equipment.

  • This person will be expected to take the lead in learning and educating others on Quality Assurance systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

  • Work with manager to identify issues, resources needs and improvement opportunities.

  • Offer suggestions for resolution/improvements.

  • Monitor, track and provide feedback on employee performance through PMD process.

  • Provide coaching and corrective actions when needed.

  • Manage employee time and attendance through etime.

  • Continuously monitor work area for unsafe conditions and take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or related degree is preferred

  • 3+ years of clinical laboratory experience

  • Previous experience with running and optimizing ELISA test method and/or instrument is preferred.

  • Team leadership experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Position may require frequent communication and walking to other areas in which designated PPE will be required.

  • Position will require sitting and standing.

  • Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

  • Ability to organize data for presentation and prepare reports as required.

  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory instrumentation with strong troubleshooting capabilities.

  • Prepare reports when required. Knowledge and training in GMP/GLP and ISO requirements.

  • MS office (concentration in the use, construction and management of Excel spreadsheets.

  • Ability to handle difficult situations and personnel.

  • Ability to delegate tasks and oversee completion of tasks.

  • Ability to follow-up and complete difficult task under pressure.

  • Ability to influence others that have no direct reporting structures.

  • Normal laboratory environment.
