How will you make an impact?

Serve as the compound management laboratory lead for the SelectScreen™ compound profiling services. Follow established procedures to process customer compounds with high accuracy and attention to detail. Design and validate new procedures to handle unique situations for which SOPs do not exist. Asses, interpret, and react to variation in supplied samples to ensure standardization with internal procedures and informatics tools. Proactively communicate with Supervisor and Project Manager regarding problems and opportunities. As a subject matter expert, serve as a mentor to more junior team members. Must be able to multi-task in a fast-pace environment, quickly addressing day-to-day issues and yet still remain focused on prioritized tasks. Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills are essential. A self-motivated individual that is detail-oriented and can function both independently as well as part of a team is required. Experience with compound/sample management, screening automation, HTS, and LIMS are highly desirable.

What will you do?

  • Function as the compound management lead for the compound profiling services, being ultimately responsible for the compound management lab and all functions performed therein

  • Use various automation including the Labcyte ECHO 550 to ensure timely delivery of assay-ready plate requests from multiple teams

  • Effectively communicate across multiple sites, partnering with multiple teams in achieving desired deliverables

  • Design, execute, and analyze scientific experiments with strong attention to detail and documentation of findings

  • Validate new processes or reagents to be used in a production environment through rigorous validation plans

  • Partner with internal and external clients to design, execute, and deliver on custom opportunities

  • Determine resource needs of the compound management lab on a weekly, daily, and hourly basis. Determine resource requirements for custom projects of various size and scope

  • Support the growth of the business by working with cross-functional teams to develop new capabilities and services

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives with project teams to address process bottlenecks and drive efficiencies

  • Respond quickly to changing priorities and handle multiple projects with potentially overlapping deadlines

  • Respond to customer questions and concerns. Participate in customer t-cons and visits and present capabilities where appropriate

  • May be required to respond to and address automation errors outside of normal working hours

  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

How will you get here?

Education

  • Requires 4+ years of laboratory experience with a Bachelors of Science degree, or 2+ years with a Masters Degree

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Industry experience with compound management, sample management, or as a laboratory lead

  • Demonstrated track record of troubleshooting complex scientific and process-related issues

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret, summarize, and present findings to internal and external customers

  • Excellent leadership, presentation, and problem solving skills

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Industry experience working with a Labcyte ECHO 550

  • Experience as a laboratory lead

  • Continuous improvement experience (e.g. PPI, Six Sigma, Lean, 5S)

  • Experience working in an ISO environment

  • Experience with data analysis statistical software (e.g. Prism, JMP, Minitab, ActivityBase)
