Job Description
Continuous Improvement Engineer
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Heysham team. In this key role, you’ll lead initiatives that optimise operational performance and work with site leadership to grow the site’s continuous improvement practices . Your impact will help us deliver on our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer .
What You Will Do
Translate strategic goals into process optimization initiatives
Promote and lead lean process optimization initiatives to ensure efficient operations.
Perform detailed data analysis and reporting to identify areas for continuous improvement, such as analysing financial data to uncover cost-saving opportunities
Collaborate with key functional teams to successfully implement improvements projects
Support site leadership in determining strategic goals and aligning team efforts to achievement of goals.
Engage colleagues across functions and levels to adopt continuous improvement approach to their role by developing site-wide capability through training and leading through influence
Monitor and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Influence senior leaders and manage priorities through effective improvement funnel tracking
Lead improvement project reviews to support and drive accountability
Lead by example and coach team on the use of common improvement tools through hands-on demonstration, simulation, and real-world application
Inspire and embed a continuous improvement mindset across teams
Communicate clearly, confidently, and with adaptability to suit different audiences
What We Need From You
Proven experience in a similar role with a focus on process optimization and applying continuous improvement tools to support strategy.
Strong analytical skills for data analysis and reporting.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and a collaborative spirit.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively cross different levels and functions of the organization
Demonstrates attention to detail and a dedication to achieving outstanding outcomes.
Experience in chemical repacking is a plus
Knowledge of process automation and relevant applications is a plus
Proven experience in building and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement
Ability to identify, quantify, and eliminate waste and inefficiencies across processes
Skilled in root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, 5W1H)
Strong working knowledge of supply chain, equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
