How will you make an impact?

The Sr. Business Manager develops and manages the business relationship with commercial clients, through understanding the client’s organization and business needs. This person has both a deep understanding of the technical and business specifics with respect to client and business requirements, and identifies solutions aligned with these requirements. The Sr. Business Manager builds a strong foundational business relationship with key business accounts to generate business growth through identifying and developing business opportunities, partnering with Sales, and the successful completion of Technology Transfers. The Sr. Business Manager serves as the liaison between Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS) and Drug Product Services (DPS) management to oversee the introduction of new products from the PDS pipeline.

What will you do?

Client Experience and Relationship Management:

  • Develop and manage the business relationship of key accounts, through understanding the client’s organization and business needs in addition to understanding the company’s network perspective related to the client's business to ensure overall approach is client versus site-centric

  • Lead negotiations and/or network projects

  • May act in a lead role over Associate Business Managers and/or Business Managers

  • Act as the internal client advocate and leader of the business at the site.

  • Identify the decision structure related to product supply and third party manufacturing, and develop an understanding for execution and implementation of supply agreements while ensuring the business framework is optimized.

  • Ensure that expected service levels are being provided and that required planning and technical information is being exchanged appropriately between organizations, through the coordination of information flow, with regard to client’s requirements.

  • Lead engagement of the Voice of Customer (VOC) program, develop action plans and manage escalation process.

New Business Development:

  • Leverage relationship with existing customers to identify opportunities.

  • Partner with Sales to identify, assess and implement new business opportunities related to existing clients.

Technical Excellence:

  • Oversee technology transfer projects to ensure 100% on-time launches.

  • Participate in Technology Transfer project team responsible for commercial aspects of the business.

  • Work closely with project managers to assume control of tech transfer projects upon validation.

Financial and Forecast Management:

  • Ensure client’s forecasts are represented accurately in S&OP process and are posted into 3-year planning model.

  • Assist in development of annual commercial revenue budget.

  • Request and implement pricing updates including annual pricing reviews, technical changes, etc. in compliance with MSA terms.

  • Work with Finance to escalate collection of overdue invoices, resolves root issues, and in general understands client’s financial processes.

How will you get here?


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Science or Engineering minimally required. Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree desired.


  • 8+ years of previous related experience in project management, account management, sales or marketing with internal or external client-facing responsibilities.

  • Pharmaceutical industry or Contract Manufacturing experience required

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulations, and outsourcing industries products and practices.

  • Prior role with client interaction experience required.

  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting required.
