Join our growing R&D team in Fremont working in state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with a broad array of liquid chromatography-mass spectrophotometer (LC-MS/MS) systems and related instrumentation, including TSQ Vantage, Endura and Q Exactiv systems!

As a Staff Scientist, LC-MS this person will supervise R&D lab activities while working closely with manufacturing to define and implement new LC-MS/MS development opportunities, prioritize projects, manage budget/costs estimates for methods developed/performed by the group. Our LC-MS/MS group is responsible for developing and validating LC-MS/MS methods used to develop new assays in R&D and manufacturing.

What will you do?

  • Contribute to the group’s efforts on LC-MS/MS method development and validation. Establish process for value assignment of calibrators and traceability to known standards.

  • Contribute to the group’s efforts on maintenance of LC-MS/MS systems and related instrumentation.

  • Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) including lab notebook, SOPs and other necessary documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with Design Controls, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines, which includes, for example, FDA guidelines on Bioanalytical Method Validation.

  • Contribute to the preparation of method development, verification and validation documents including SOPs and specification sheets.

  • Perform all activities in compliance with GMP, regulatory and safety policies.

  • Collaborate with other departments in the organization to resolve technical issues related to product development (e.g., immunoassays, controls), product manufacturing, testing and performance.

  • Participate in efforts to exhibit a positive impact on product quality and perception of the company in the marketplace.

  • Publish the findings in peer reviewed journals and scientific conferences with the help of scientists.

  • Identify and investigate the feasibility of potential invention disclosures.

  • Review data and summary reports.

How will you get here?

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry or related discipline with 4-5 years of industrial experience in LC-MS/MS assay development; or an MS in Organic Chemistry or related discipline with 6-8 years of industrial experience in LC-MS/MS assay development.

  • Experience in LC-MS/MS assay development is a must.

  • Experience in In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple functional teams is a must.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists who need to communicate and cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent organization and strong project management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative within a multi-discipline team and contribute to a supportive and positive work environment.

  • Self-motivated, independent and a proactive driving force of efficient execution.

  • Capable of multi-tasking and changing priorities caused by time, markets, customers, budget or other constraints.

  • Ability to identify technical risks and mitigation strategies to keep the LC-MS/MS method development and the communication of study and/or testing results on schedule.
