Location/Division Specific Information

This position is part of the Materials and Minerals business unit in the Chemical Analysis Division (CAD). The role is based in Franklin, MA.

How will you make an impact?

This position will process packing and shipping documentation for domestic and international shipments within the Franklin facility including:

  • Process export and domestic documentation.

  • AES processing with the Census Bureau through AES Direct.

  • Prepare and package goods for transport in accordance with Federal and International regulations.

  • Pack hazardous and non-hazardous materials for domestic and international shipments.

What will you do?

  • Export record keeping in accordance with the parameters and period(s) of retention set by all applicable U.S. Government agencies and by Company policy.

  • Coordinate daily with shipping, production, customers and freight forwarders for collection of goods, quotes, House will bills, order status, tracking, and delivery confirmation in order to ensure timely shipping delivery.

  • Prepare parcel and palletized shipments ensuring that all shipments are complete, safely packaged, on schedule, and shipped via the designated carrier according to Federal and International regulations.

  • Process parcel shipments through FedEx, DHL Express and UPS Ship Manager Systems.

  • Maintain a neat, orderly, well-organized, and safe working environment for shipping area based on 5 S and OSHA requirements.

  • Execute daily shipping activities:

  • Palletize, strap, and shrink wrap

  • Package all products for shipping, including internal shipping requests..

  • Prepare bill of ladings, airway bills, and dangerous goods declarations for domestic and international shipments following special shipping requirements.

  • Ensure hazardous shipments are properly documented, marked, and labeled in accordance with government regulations.

  • Communicate with carriers for pickup and make changes to shipments (i.e. change billing, stop and return, expedite and will tags) as needed.

  • Operate forklift, cranes, pallet jack, strapping and banding tools, and other shipping equipment.

  • Dispatch and load trucks.

  • Stocking of shipping packing supplies.

  • Follows HAZMAT storage policies and procedures.

  • Maintains housekeeping per safety training and requirements.

  • Support the cycle count program and maintains compliance to corporate financial procedures by driving effective root cause analysis and effective counter measures to improve inventory accuracy.

  • Actively engaged, lead teams, and bring ideas for PPI / Lean initiatives.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Logistics Process Manager.

How will you get here?

  • A minimum of a High School Education, GED, or equivalent.

  • Must have at least 2 years working experience processing export shipping documents.

  • One year of college a plus.

  • Three to five years’ experience in a shipping, receiving and materials handling in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of ERP systems, knowledge of SAP a plus.

  • Demonstrable proficiency with computers and working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office applications or equivalent.

  • Experience with forklifts and / or fork lift certification

  • Ability to use or learn how to use the necessary tools to build wood crates and skids.

  • Ability to take and pass AES Direct, DOT training and a 40-hour Radiation Safety Course.

  • Experience with material handling equipment (hand trucks, high bay storage, etc.).

  • Demonstrates problem solving skills and teamwork.

  • Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Basic computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and Excel.

  • Must be willing to work overtime.

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and push or pull up to 75 Lbs.

  • Ability to perform job functions while standing continuously.

  • Must be able to speak/read/write English effectively.

  • Demonstrate understanding of basic math including decimals and volume.
