How will you make an impact?

The Analytical Method Development Chemist will partner with various parts of the business including Product Development/Research & Development, Product Management, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) and Operations) to perform method development, feasibility, qualification and/or validation of methods. The ideal candidate in this role will enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer by ensuring we can provide our customers with critical laboratory analytical reagents.

A Day in the Life:

• Perform fit-for-purpose method development, feasibility, qualification and/or validation of methods in support of manufacturing including in-line and finished product release testing using various analytical techniques.

• Revising and updating the existing methods including compendial changes, producing all relevant updated documentation.

• Perform method development for new product introductions and optimize existing methods.

• Support, as needed, troubleshooting of analytical methods and lab instrumentation problems.

• As an outcome of troubleshooting, recommend alternatives, research new methods and techniques and proactively seek out supervisors and peers to discuss potential solutions to problems.

• Author reports, protocols, test methods, and other documentation all as required for compliance.

• Ensure that all activities are performed to Quality and Environmental, Health and Safety standards.

• Prepare standards and samples for analysis and run instrumentation with minimum supervision, as needed. Perform relevant tests accurately.

• Complete method transfer protocols as applicable.

• Develop and implement validation plans

• Support of Manufacturing and Pilot Studies.

How will you get here?

• Bachelors degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field from an accredited university.

• 5+ years related experience (ie, analytical chemistry testing), including 1+ years of method development. Equivalent combination of education and years of related experience may be substituted.

• Hands-on proficiency and problem-solving skills with HPLC/UPLC, GC, and other analytical techniques.

• Experience with spectroscopic techniques (e.g. FTIR, UV-Vis, Raman) is preferred.

• Experience with Mass Spectrometry is an advantage.

• Experience with ICP (MS & OES) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience running chromatography and spectroscopy related instruments (HPLC/LC-MS/GC/UV-VIS/IR) with excellent technical proficiency

• Familiarity with test methods including ACS, USP/NF, EP,BP, JP, FCC strongly preferred.

• Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail, including problem-solving skills

• Ability to work both independently and as a team with self-motivation, flexibility, and a positive demeanor

• Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records and follow relevant instructions

• Process Improvement: Engage in process improvement initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the business.
