How will you make an impact?

Reporting to the Director, Strategy & Business Development, the Sr. Manager, Strategy & Business Development will look holistically across the business to develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy, including innovation and inorganic initiatives, to drive greater customer value, product differentiation, and enable growth.

What you will do

The Sr. Manager will develop frameworks and tackle problems across a variety of areas, each of which will have a significant impact on the long-term success of LSG.

  • Support organic and inorganic strategy development at the LSG level by working collaboratively with executive leaders.

  • Lead market intelligence and analysis, drawing insights and implications for the businesses.

  • Identify, define, and articulate industry, market, and emerging trends and how they may affect LSG businesses.

  • Apply project management, analytical and decision support skills to drive ‘special projects’ that advance key strategic priorities for specific opportunities.

  • Collaborate with divisional market intelligence teams, most notably the Genetic Sciences Division (GSD), to build a single source of truth for market sizes and growth rates to advise strategic priorities.

  • Drive translation of strategy to portfolio planning and provide direction for investment priorities.

  • Develop materials to support the communication of the company’s strategy in executive-level forums, such as Board of Directors meetings.

  • Perform technical/business assessment of potential candidates in support of business opportunities by collaborating cross-functionally with team members across LSG Divisions (Business GMs, Product Management, Research & Development, Finance, Legal and others as needed).

  • Provide clear, concise project updates to key collaborators.

How will you get here?

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in life sciences or related field. MBA, PhD, or related advanced degree preferred.

  • 4+ years of meaningful professional experience, including broad experience in strategy and market/financial analysis within a Corporate or Consulting setting; 2+ years’ experience at a best-in-class management consulting firm preferred.

  • Experience working on large strategic projects from framing the problem, conducting research/analysis, building business and implementation plans and driving execution.

  • Experience in the life sciences industry, preferably within genetic sciences (e.g., genetic analysis, molecular diagnostics, predictive genomics)

  • Prior involvement in Business Development / Corporate Development deals, preferably in the life sciences space.

  • Broad business perspective: in-depth knowledge of the market, industry and organization, and their impact on work processes and results.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), able to represent ideas and recommendations at all levels in the organization, across functional and geographic boundaries.

  • Strong analytical and financial skills (market size modeling or financial modeling) to inform sophisticated business issues.

  • Effective at forming relationships, collaborating, and influencing others with the support of the Director; experience working with senior executives across various geographies and functions.

  • Ability to travel approximately 20%.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $143,000 - $214,475.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $143,000.00–$214,475.00.
