We are excited to announce an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to join our world-class team at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. Discover Impactful Work. You will be instrumental in defining and developing instrument products for the Laboratory Plastics business , part of the Laboratory Products Division . In leading system definition & integration aspects of product development, you will collaborate with deeply knowledgeable, specialized engineers and scientists to develop instruments and applications for our Liquid Handling instrument platforms in both RUO and IVD markets.

A Day in the Life.

  • Collaborating with diverse teams to determine system requirements and design specifications

  • Leading the development and integration of complex systems to ensure flawless functionality

  • Proven experience in successfully implementing and testing system upgrades and enhancements

  • Competing in a fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget

  • Maintaining compliance with industry regulations and following recommended methods for best results

  • Travel: generally less than 10% but could have peak periods up to 25%, domestic or international.

KEYS TO SUCCESS

Education and Experience.

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Engineering, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology or related technical discipline; advanced degree is preferred but not required

  • 10+ years of hands-on engineering experience in developing instrumentation (subsystems, systems, testing and validation) including consumables

  • 3+ years of experience serving regulated markets in a commercial environment is preferred

  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional preferred.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

  • Successful track record in delivering RUO or IVD products with a thorough understanding of quality systems

  • Prior experience in building Life Science hardware systems is preferred, including optical subsystems, electro-mechanical subsystems, pneumatic subsystems, building test setups and troubleshooting hardware

  • Owned the entire product development life cycle through customer care while meeting cost, schedule and performance requirements

  • Familiarity with commercial laboratory equipment for diagnostics and research use including robotic liquid handling systems (e.g. Tecan/Hamilton) is highly preferred

  • Experience of co-development with contract design and manufacturing partners is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $130,000.00–$194,950.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
