Position Summary:

Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global industry leader serving science, is seeking a motivated and diligent individual to join our Microbiology Division (MBD) Finance team as a Financial Analyst III. Reporting to the Manager, Finance Transformation, this role presents a unique opportunity for career development within a dynamic and growing division. The successful candidate will actively contribute to financial processes, reporting, analytics, and systems while supporting key projects in Finance Transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in Commercial Finance Transformation:

  • Support ongoing Commercial Finance transformation projects, working towards process optimization and reporting solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline activities and enhance reporting capabilities.

Data-Centric Solutions and Reporting:

  • Participate in the development of data-centric solutions that improve reporting consistency and visibility.

  • Collaborate on efforts to shift from retrospective reporting to building increased foresight across the finance organization.

Project Support:

  • Provide assistance in handling a diverse portfolio of projects within Commercial Finance and offer support for other Finance transformation initiatives.

Process Optimization:

  • Spot potential areas for process optimization and contribute to the creation of standard reporting solutions.

  • Assist in the development and refinement of tools, policies, and procedures that enhance performance.

Confidentiality and Ad Hoc Support:

  • Handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.

  • Coordinate and support various ad hoc projects and requests for data or analysis as required.

Data Governance and Reporting Tools Maintenance:

  • Champion data governance efforts in collaboration with SDG and IT resources.

  • Assist in maintaining existing commercial reporting tools, ensuring accuracy and relevance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Finance Transformation Analysts need a combination of financial expertise and proficiency in areas such as technology, project management, and change management to effectively drive and implement change across various departments within an organization.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills to interpret financial data and derive insights for decision-making. Proficiency in data manipulation and visualization tools is advantageous.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt new technologies, processes and methodologies relating to Finance Transformation.

  • Comfortable working in complex organization and traditional matrixed structure.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis or reporting within a corporate environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel; Power Query, Financial system software such as Hyperion, SAP and COGNOS and Data Analytics platforms such as (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)

  • SQL (Structured Query Language) proficiency is desirable, although not mandatory.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
