Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable services for database infrastructure

  • Serve as a technical resource on development and infrastructure initiatives, ensuring efficient and issue-free database operations

  • Collaborate with Database and IT professionals to support critical business initiatives

  • Provide unique solutions tailored to our customers' needs through comprehensive analysis and problem-solving techniques.

  • Automate processes and procedures for new database environments

  • Provide feedback to business users based on customer support experience

  • Communicate and collaborate with users to analyze information needs and functional requirements

  • Identify key issues and repetitive problems, working under the direction of project leaders

  • Liaise between business, technology teams, and support teams

  • Participate in the Service Desk function to resolve user-related support calls

Job Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience

  • 3-5+ years of professional experience in a dynamic environment with a focus on database services

  • Experience with SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, or 2019 and Management Studios

  • Proficiency in AWS, Azure, and Windows

  • Knowledge of Windows Cluster, AlwaysOn, replication, or active/passive database clusters

  • Experience with operational tasks, customer focus, and systems development lifecycle

  • Strong backup and recovery skills at both OS and database levels

  • Proficiency in generating comprehensive documentation for operational processes and systems

  • Understanding of database security, client installation, and configuration

  • Proficient in operational tasks such as ticket closing, backup, restores, user creation, and administration

  • Proficiency in analyzing and resolving OS contention issues, and addressing challenges related to database performance.

How will you make an impact?

  • Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions to our customers' individual needs

  • Learn and use groundbreaking technologies

  • Work directly with Engineering Database Administrators to help resolve customer issues

  • Ability to automate processes and procedures for new database environments

  • Leverage your customer support experience to provide feedback to our business users

  • Communicate and collaborate with users to analyze information needs and functional requirements

  • Work with users to identify key issues, repetitive problems under direction of project leaders

  • Liaise between the business, technology teams and support teams

  • Participate in Service Desk function to resolve user related support calls

What will you do?

  • The Database Administrator responsibility will include design, development and implementation of scalable services.

  • The Database Administrator will also serve as a technical resource on development and infrastructure initiatives, assisting in the deployment and on-going support of applications and database infrastructure.

  • Work seamlessly with other Database and IT professionals to design, deploy, and support critical Thermo Fisher Scientific business initiatives.

  • Work to ensure that databases run efficiently and issue free.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the design, installation, and deployment of complex database landscapes.

Education

  • BS Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field of study, or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of professional experience in a dynamic environment with a primary focus on database services.

  • Experience with SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016 or 2019, Management Studios

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, Windows

  • Experience with Windows Cluster, AlwaysOn, replication or active / passive database clusters.

  • Experience with Operational related tasks and customer focus.

  • Experience with systems development lifecycle

  • Backup and recovery at both OS and database levels

  • Operational and technical documentation

  • Database security

  • Database client installation and configuration

  • Experience with Operational related tasks such as ticket closing, backup, restores, creation of new users and administration asks

  • OS contention issue analysis and resolution and database performance troubleshooting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Candidates must possess good analytical skills, as well as written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work well in a dynamic team environment and independently.
