Summary of Internship

The Presales Support Specialist Internship position provides an opportunity for life science students who are currently pursuing a biology or chemistry degree and have an interest in Sales to get hands on experience working with inside sales team in a fast-paced call center environment. The Presales intern will have invaluable exposure to Thermo Fisher’s commercial organization, gaining insight into business needs of life science customers and understand how laboratory equipment is essential to science. He/she will have the opportunity to work on innovative projects, collaborate with teams, and apply science knowledge and analytical skills to build tools that will drive revenue generation.

The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.

Essential Functions

  • Gain understanding of Sales Lead Development and Management.

  • Provide sales support and product recommendations to customers and field sales.

  • Involved with building and maintaining distributor and field sales relationships.

  • Learn about customer record management through daily activities.

  • Apply Scientific Knowledge to create application workflows the Sales Support Team will utilize to drive revenue.

  • Travel with a Sales representative to visit a customer account

  • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements

  • Specific tasks will be tailored to the intern’s experience level and abilities

  • The intern works under the close supervision of Presales Support Specialists and Sales Support managers.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross functional team

  • Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Good Time Management Skills

  • Desire to contribute and improve design of new and existing sales support resources

  • Exceptional customer focus

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite software

Qualifications

  • Student currently enrolled in classes leading to a life science accredited degree in a Biology, Chemistry, or related science discipline

  • Biology or Chemistry, or like life science field

  • General Biology or greater science knowledge preferred
