Location/Division Specific Information:

Analytical Instruments Group – Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) - Electron Microscopy - EM Visualization Sciences (VSG).

Location, remote. Preferably in New York, New Jersey or Boston

How will you make an impact?

The Senior Sales Account Manager is accountable for ensuring profitable growth in this promising territory. This new role will build strong client relationships within our existing accounts, develop account management strategies and discover growth opportunities. You will also coordinate with internal teams to deliver software solutions that meet clients’ needs.

In this role, you will own the relationship between the account and Thermo Fisher Scientific, MSD VSG, and will build and implement a sales strategy with a focus on Academic and Life Sciences markets and our existing major/strategic accounts and targeted new business development. Further, you will develop and nurture relationships at the executive level, ensuring a complete understanding of the clients' short, mid, and long-term goals.

What will you do?

  • Identify market potential by qualifying accounts. Customer segments include Life Science, Material Science, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Academic, and Government accounts.

  • Initiate sales process by scheduling appointments, making initial presentations, understanding account requirements.

  • Develop relationships at senior and executive levels to advance new growth opportunities in target markets.

  • Lead the business objectives for the MSD VSG strategy including financial objectives and compliance metrics.

  • Close sales by establishing rapport with potential accounts; explaining software capabilities; overcoming objections; preparing contracts.

  • Expand sales in existing accounts by introducing new products and services.

How will you get there?

  • A minimum B.Sc. degree in a scientific field: chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering is preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years as an account manager selling software that supports scientific innovation preferred.

  • Direct experience selling software to senior positions within top Life Science and Material Science & Engineering companies.

  • Understanding of laboratory processes and methods and regulations in the Pharmaceutical and Biotech sector.

  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Interpersonal efficiency and rapport building.

  • Results & success-oriented through initiative, ownership, and accountability

  • Outstanding teammate, able to work successfully with all other team members.

  • May have travel up to 50% of the time based upon territory
