How will you make an impact?

This position is a strategic partner in the Supply chain organization with responsibility for leading a Purchasing team to achieve required business results. The Sr Manager will ensure purchased materials are procured with the highest level of quality and compliance in a safe and timely manner that will meet the production needs to deliver on customer expectations while meeting all co st commitments.

This position is responsible for developing and motivating a successful team of both direct and in direct reports across the Purchasing group driving to achieve a common set of goals. This person will interact with all areas and levels of the company, using a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving and will report to the Director of Supply Chain.

What will you do?

  • Support the manufacturing teams’ production goals through the purchase of raw materials from approved suppliers and ensure they are received on time to improve production throughput and uphold our on-time delivery targets by the timely supply of finished product to our customers

  • Develop and demonstrate close relationships with Operations/ Supply chain leadership to ensure tight alignment with evolving customer requirements, including available to promise, delivery and valuable services, documentation requirements, etc.

  • Establish systems and plans ensuring the purchase and acquisition of the highest quality products to exceed customer requirements

  • Lead and direct procurement personnel through training, annual performance reviews and daily feedback

  • Establish employee performance guidelines, set goals and objectives ensuring both parties have a clear understanding of expectations

  • Be responsible for the procurement budget and develop annual budget supporting procurement activities keeping in line with company goals and budget guidelines to outline all projected financial needs for the upcoming year

  • Identify measures to improve Procurement processes by analyzing current practices and industry standards and recommending changes to ensure that processes are evaluated and improved.

  • Stay ahead of the US and non-US regulations affecting own area of management and align with those regulations.

  • Initiate changes to department practices and procedures to support compliance requirements

  • Engage with Category Management and ensure that the business has vital supplier contracts

  • Ensure buyers communicate on a regular basis with Production, Planning and Receiving to ensure timely and accurate work orders, material transfers, material disposition processing and timely processing of material movement transactions and ad

  • Monitor buyer metrics as needed and implement corrective actions through RCCM to make continued progress

  • Ensure the buyers acquire quotations examine bids, and awards (as needed).

  • As needed, work with Category Managers to identify new vendors and develop our supplier base to ensure business continuity and support sourcing savings initiative

  • Write and/or modify procedures for the Procurement Department formulating the procedure to document guidelines for ensuring operating efficiency

  • Responsible for meeting the site’s financial targets, key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks including productivity, sourcing savings, operating income, revenue, margins, inventory, and growth.

  • Develop the savings goals (PPV or delta P) and achieving the goals.

  • Integrate within Sales, Inventory and Operation Planning (SIOP) to ensure RM purchase plans are set up to support our future outlook & for minimizing excess and obsolescence by purchasing the right quantities

  • Engage with Supplier Quality and Product support teams as required to manage changes to the supplier base through occurrences of change notifications, discontinuations & new supplier qualifications & manage a seamless transition as needed.

  • Collaborate with senior leaders of major suppliers and internal customers to provide outstanding service in line our goals & customer commitments.

How will you get here?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or similar field.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of supply chain experience preferred. Project Management experience (PMP certification preference)

  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of industry related experience with expertise in managing and developing staff for a procurement team in an operations environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and advanced understanding and ability to adhere to established quality standards and regulatory compliance requirements for medical device or diagnostics

  • Knowledge and understanding and experience with IT systems (ERP, MES, WMS etc.

  • Strong business acumen with a broad knowledge of P&L, Balance Sheet, NPV/ROI, and cost accounting principles.

  • Extensive previous experience in a diagnostic manufacturing environment with thorough knowledge of a variety of laboratory chemicals, potentially hazardous chemicals, human source materials

  • Exceptional supply chain optimization expertise and project management experience

  • Experience in implementing or working with an effective continuous improvement i.e. LEAN, Six Sigma,

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill, executive presentation, and leadership skills with a collaborative approach to problem solvi

  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to positively influence the actions of colleagues outside the direct reporting structure

  • Ability to apply analytical skills and action orientation to drive sustaining results with intensity, at times demonstrating the confidence, conviction and collaboration to innovate new strategies and methodologies.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with peers in other value streams and with colleagues in other businesses or divisions

  • Ability to lead, motivate and influence others.

  • Ability to travel globally as business requires (10% minimum).

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $127,600.00–$191,350.00.
